It's time for a decision on what our clanmap(s) should be. I will showcase two former MH clanmaps, that could easily be revamped to work for us. I will also give the option for a whole new one. As always, the decision is up to the clan. Another decision to make, is to remove or keep old houses owned by previous MH members in them. MHQTerrain has a house by Cooper, Doko, and I don't remember who else.

Option 1: -[Hell]-HQ

Advantages: Fits the 'Mapping Hell' theme
Disadvantages: Requires major cleaning and revamping

Advantages: Nice terrain already made, many nice buildings already there
Disadvantages: Does not fit with 'Hell' theme, requires a bit of cleanup

I kind of like that idea. You ever played Amnesia? They have a sort of gothic castle, but the ambiance makes it hellish. Perhaps a multi-tiered, multi-roomed underground section, where different members can theme rooms so that they fit the hellish theme, with their own twist. On top, can be like a nice castle. The underground is the catacombs, where the real hell takes place.

What do y'all think?

There was a prince of persia game, i think sands of time in which he discoveres an ancient castle that ended up underground.

How about we make it so the rooms look more and more ancient as you descend more and more. the top rooms can look modern-ish and gets more and more ancient as it goes down, then it's just caves and underground lakes with weird luminescent fish.

Yes. Similar to Amnesia. You can even see light shining into the upper rooms, so that you can get the feel of possible escape.

Luminescent fish are a must.

Just looking at the screenshots, HellHQ map looks damn sexy. I love all the gothic/evil/dungeon style theme.

(btw i have a load of dungeon/mythical textures lying about, i'll post them when i've finished heightmaps/normalmaps for them).

The image posted above; which I have conveniently attached to this post... We have GOT to make that ENTIRE layout. :D
I am going to pull in that picture as a template.

The level of intricacy would be great. With some variation to height in various places, ( add stairs and shit ) it would make an excellent little section to hide under the map somewhere. Drop a person in and let them try to get out.

Also, some rooms could overlap so as to let plays fall down, but not get back up.

Awesome. I think a night-time skybox would be appropriate for hell. But should it also be in outer space? It needs to mean something, like - it's hell, but it's not on earth, maybe earth can be in the skybox, so you'd know it's really an unseen celestial body that mirrors all of mankind's deepest fears? Maybe we can also make an earth mapmodel in the center of one of the halls, so as to make it look like a tormentor target - click here to torment this area?

TL;DR: hell in space?

WE'RE DOING THIS MAN!

Plan: Underground Dungeon, per Vampi's map, where rooms go down in elevation, and look older and older

It will be hellish and scary, and an ambiance of danger will be very real

This will be in (mapping) Hell, and by looking out at the skybox, you can easily tell.

Let's put the more complex map (the one jake started) as a hanged picture inside the map, with a point on it saying 'you are here' but in fact it's the wrong map :D
