Hey guys!
I will be making maps in Sauerbraten, but I will not be on multiplayer. I have found a new way to make layouts(for me) :P :
1) Get ideas-Theme, textures, geometry
2) Draw ON PAPER
3) make 3-d (Sauer) version of layout
4) tidy up
5) detail + lighting
6) done!

HELP! I NEED HELP WITH A MAP! SWEET THINK YOU COULD HELP?????????????????????
Tis called: The_Bridge
Theme: One bridge access over large gorge, LOTS OF HOUSES AND TREES + FLOWERBEDS
Game mode: ctf, or artistic tour
Mapsize: 12
I need: Layout, someone who can make some "minor" half-circles, a designer, and lots of hand-crafted cubes
I'll cover: Top 3 layers of the cliff (I'll get screenies about that), the bridge, scenery, and texturing (or at least most of this stuff. Will give creds to you all!)
Designer:
"Florist":
"Carpenter":
"Mason": Me (cliffside)
Any other positions will be filled in later.
If I can your guys' help, I'm sure I mught get in MH :/ (not too sure, cuz it's now a group project)
It would be beneficial to rough out a bit more of the map before asking for help.
At least that way people who come in to the project have an idea of what is being done.
Well, thanks Windy. Ill make some more stuff, before I start recruiting. Make layout an' all.
To be honest, we've seen the 'bridge over a canyon' about three thousand times. :D
It seems to be one of the most popular things to attempt ever.
Anywho;
A tip for the canyon. Lets say you were to work *below* the surface of the canyon: In such a case, you could curve your canyon at either end so has to hide the open end. It makes it appear more distant and keeps from breaking the feel of the map by having a giant open hole at each end.
Alternatively, if you are above the edge of the canyon, you could do the same thing with mountains per se, and have the canyon curve into and behind a mountain or large hill.
Oh, by the way Jake, did you hear my unique idea for a foreboding bridge over a foggy canyon?
omg sweet, I had the SAME IDEA!
Sweet, that sounds awesome! Tell me more!
Actually, don't bother, I already know it will be awesome. Let's make it!
I'll just crawl back into my duel maps again. And soon to come ctfs... -_-
One Being:
Theme: Castle Courtyard
Geometry: Basic, but very small details
Hard to make: Eh
Mode: Duel
A look into a ctf map (inspired by Parkour's "waste")
Name: Ice Wave Ctf
Theme: Pretty self explanatory :P
Geometry: Sharp corners for ice, but gunna use smoother stiff for bases.
Lighting: Blue, but not really deep
Credits to: Whoever helps
Sponsored by: P.O.R.N!
Not bad bro.
Might i also suggest the 'Wooden bridge across the small lake with Koi fish in it' japanese-style theme?
Ill leave that to Mr.Fixxit
He's best at it.
I will do river, w/ Japanese style houses (if I can)
Bridge over water
Fishes see you upside down
Below the surface
