Heres a tip if you're desperate, make a quick bind for the meantime:

editbind KEY [ universaldelta -1] // scroll up
editbind KEY [ universaldelta 1] // scroll down

Zoocata, this is what i had, doesn't work though as i said (one direction only)
bind LSHIFT [  digcube ]

digging = 0

digcube = [
                if (= $digging 0) [

                        digging = 1

                        // cancel any selection (doesnt seem to work though)
                        cubecancel
                        cancelsel

                        // keep a consistent gridsize
                        gridpower 4

                        // alpha the cube we are digging
                        sleep 50 [
                                edittoggle
                                alpha
                                edittoggle
                        ]

                        sleep 1000 [
                                // enter edit mode
                                edittoggle

                                // delete the cube we're facing'
                                editdel

                                // select the next cube (instead of empty grid)
                                universaldelta 1

                                //return to normal mode
                                edittoggle

                                digging = 0
                        ]
                ]

                //onrelease [ clearsleep ]

]

what is "editface" for and does it work better?

Frogmod / Re: archlinux/frogmod package

Nope, but i have made small changes to the existing sauerbraten one: https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit/community.git/tree/trunk/sauerbraten.rcd?h=packages/sauerbraten

It's packaged like this now:

$ pacman -Ql frogmod-justice-git
frogmod-justice-git /etc/
frogmod-justice-git /etc/frogmod/
frogmod-justice-git /etc/frogmod/server-init-example.cfg
frogmod-justice-git /etc/frogmod/stdlib.cfg
frogmod-justice-git /etc/rc.d/
frogmod-justice-git /etc/rc.d/frogmod
frogmod-justice-git /opt/
frogmod-justice-git /opt/frogmod-justice/
frogmod-justice-git /opt/frogmod-justice/bin/
frogmod-justice-git /opt/frogmod-justice/bin/frogserv
frogmod-justice-git /opt/frogmod-justice/doc/
frogmod-justice-git /opt/frogmod-justice/doc/README
frogmod-justice-git /opt/frogmod-justice/doc/readme_source.txt
frogmod-justice-git /opt/frogmod-justice/web/

frogmod-justice-git /opt/frogmod-justice/web/unspec.png
frogmod-justice-git /usr/
frogmod-justice-git /usr/sbin/
frogmod-justice-git /usr/sbin/frogserv

However still not perfect:
Console initialized. You may type commands now.
could not read "config.cfg"
/usr/sbin/frogserv: line 34: 16035 Segmentation fault      /opt/frogmod-justice/bin/frogserv

Is config.cfg only needed at runtime? I was thinking, maybe to patch frogmod to place config.cfg into /tmp as a workaround. It's running as user 'nobody' and tries to write to /etc/frogmod/config.cfg which is the problem i am getting lol.

I'll try work on it later.

ok, i think i get what your saying ;)  so a cube made with the highest grid size would have a low poly count, but a cube the same size made with the lowest grid size would have a large poly count..?  ???

like this:

geometry on the left is made up of one cube, which has a smaller poly count than the one made of 4 cubes.

I liked Ctf-pentagon the most, i think if some parts of it were retextured it could be a really great map.
I vote yes

I have a fetish with trying to make maps from other games.  ;D Something i had in mind was to start on trying to recreate shadow moses (from metal gear solid, a playstation 1 game).

A few simple (low colour) aerial views of the first 2 sections below

First level:
http://images.wikia.com/metalgear/images/8/87/Shadow_moses_elevator.jpg

And then the top of the elevator (second level):
http://images.wikia.com/metalgear/images/f/f1/Shadow_Moses_intel_2.jpg

Lots of screenshots elsewhere of other parts of the island. I might start an attempt at it tomorrow  ;D But just an idea.

edit: ..... and other than that i love blood death fire and gothic styled things.

Frogmod / archlinux/frogmod package
October 24, 2011, 09:02:04 PM
Finished this earlier today, seems to work fine for the most. Its a package build script for archlinux to install frogmod onto your box just like any other package.
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=53415

If you use archlinux and have a package helper (such as `yaourt') for the AUR, you can install/build it by simply typing:
yaourt -S frogmod-justice-git
and then run the frogserv script in /usr/sbin/frogserv

I've packaged it so that it uses /home/$USER/.frogmod/ as the config directory, the first time vampi's frogmod is run, from this package, the config files needed are copied into there.

Because it uses git to create the package, the build script won't be updated often, if there is a new feature in vampi's git master, then rebuild the package and it should install a more up to date version as simple as that.  ;)

I've only seen BrakebackCastle, but its a very detailed map and has lots of nice designs on the walls. I have no idea if its based on a real castle but it looks pretty realistic and well done.

Assuming i need to vote (not sure if i have been fully accepted yet). I would vote yes   :D

why don't you just use a checkerboard texture instead of many cubes?

Meh i didn't think of that when i started it, i never thought it would turn out to be a whole map. It has too many problems to be worth fixing anyway,

  • flashing skybox/geometry craziness
  • high cube count
  • horrible lighting
  • don't even ask about the clipping
  • crammed into the default map size (/newmap 10)

I will vote once you tell me whether or not you can post the race map.
;D
I've attached it below, just spent 30minutes cutting the filezise down to 1mb:

I've also attached the map called "scorch", i have been working on lately. This morning i added some small details and an extra room with a staircase, isn't playable yet though.

Thanks. I will clean up the sonic map for the next hour or so to try and reduce its size (about 2.5mb lol)... parts of it are rushed and don't look right as it is.  ::)

QuoteProtonic: High playable layout, although the jumppads need easier access. Skylight was a bad choice for the map, considering the environment. The textures are nice, and I see some nice details. Overall, a playable map that I like.
The teleports were put in a way so you would need to weapon jump (make it harder to get the quad) but yeh i agree with you.

QuoteSorry, I'll have to re-issue my vote.

Ok, well i'm not sure what that was about.

Anyway, here is some stuff i have made in the past (mostly unfinished maps).

This map is called "protonic", its set in a futuristic power plant of some kind (nuclear reactor). The map is fairly small but has a nice layout for small ffa matches (2v2 for example). This is probably my most complete map so far, it has waypoints for the bots, and also regen capture bases. This map is not finished though, it lacks some details in obvious places. The general layout is also symmetrical which was quite a task to get right at the start. Ignore some of the lighting problems, it will be fixed once the map is finished.

Screenshots:

Here is a preview of another map of mine (just started this week) called scorch. Its set on a world where the star is dying and the planet has become scorched. Generally it will have a very burnt/hot feel to it. Certain parts of it also look like a gigantic monster is on the lose, through gigantic claw marks in the floors, and roofs being torn open by "something". This is far from finished, and only has 4 sections (rooms) for now.

Screenshots:

This is from a map called sectorone, although far from finished. I'm hoping to create some kind of underground base with this general theme:

Few screenies of maps immitating other games

Nibelheim (a town in final fantasy 7), angled geometry got really awkward and took a rather long time to make what is in the picture:

A silly race-style map with loop the loops, springpads and obstacles, based on sonic the hedgehog.

Soooo, that's what i have for now (at least, anything that is worth showing). Previously i had created several maps which were lost to a hard-drive nuke, one was based on the 'stargate command center' from tv show called stargate-sg1 (i would love to been able to share that, it was pretty much finished). Maybe i will try making it again sometime.

I've attached the map 'protonic' as it is really the only completed (sort of) map i have. You should be able to extract it with WinRAR, sorry about the format, i don't have zip or rar on this computer.

Tell me what you think of the screenshots, i would love to have feedback. Thanks!

Hi, some of you may know me, i tend to hop coop servers often.

I have been playing sauerbraten for a few years on and off.
Lately i've only really been playing 2 games (sauerbraten, and openarena).
I really love the cube2 editor and thought why not learn how to use it properly. So i joined here.  ;)
