News / Quake Champions announced at E3!

Bethesda announced that the next Quake is in development!


So far there's only a short reveal trailer but from what I read it's going to be multiplayer only and is described as competitive and arena-style. It's also said to be PC only, so it won't be a crappy console port, yet I don't know if it will be available for Mac or Linux.

To me the trailer looks pretty much like Quake 4 with even more specularity, while what I read sounded really promising! What do you guys think? Are we about to get the first playable arena shooter of the decade or is it too late to revive the Quake series?

I noticed a lot of you added a link to their Steam account in your profiles and as we don't play that much Sauer together naymore I thought we could play some other games maybe?  ;D I created a Steam group for our little community so we can easily exchange Steam ID's and see who's online! :)


I already invited some of you but i don't think I have everyone on my friendlist yet. Just let me know if u wanna join and i'll send you an invite!

hmm this forum is getting quite inactive.. what about seperating it from the clan and using it just as public sauer forum? mx hasnt got a forum at all anymore and maybe we could ask the fanatics too? =P it would be more open and have less rules and less dominating admins (no offense jake ^^) so... what do you think?

What about a meeting to playtest new layouts or other playable projects? That would be great fun and and we could fix shit together! :D its hard to improve layouts without testing them, but its even harder to find ppl who playtest them with you :S

so what do you think? :D you got time next weekend? lets set up a time and have some ep1c B4TT3LZ!!

well the maps was so section empty i just felt like posting sth xD here is a layout I started last week, as u see its still wip, i just started texturing and lighting..
ps: ill post some screenies when the lighting is
done. :)

yesterday i found a tapatalk-plug-in for simple machines forums :D and tapatalk is the number 1 forum app for android, blackberry & ios! would be great if someone (vampi :-]) could install it ;D

these are the first detailed parts of my sp map :D nothing is 100% done yet its all wip noe, i spent most of the time with the lighting and the triggers/config... i'll opdate this topic when thers anything new to show :)

i know this has already been discussed, but that was a long time ago: The Hell should start fighting!

i thought we/mappinghell could set up a fighting team and take part in some leagues (train a bit first)
pls reply if your are interested (!)[/color] so we can see how many people would take part and decide if it would make sense.

i'm 14 and live in germany
i like making playable quake style maps in sauerbraten (although i never played quake) nice gameplay and flow is for me the most important thinng on a map, beside that i like maps wich look good because of the lights and texturing and have low wtr, its not that i dont like details but i prefer big details, made with bigger gridsizes, because they save wtr and too small details will just be ignored.
i also like sp-maps :) but for me a good sp-map is not just killing monsters, they also have to include some puzzles, but not too difficult, you should still flow threw the map. you play sauer to have fun and not to get stuckall the time :P

I play sauer for nearly a year now and i found it in a combuter magasine (but they didnt notic the editmode)

What are your favorite game modes (except coopedit)? Why?
I like all modes, especially ctf but i suck at it, i'm better at insta-(ctf/hold/protect)

When are you usually online?
mostly in the evenings and on the weekends

i prefer making playable quakestyle maps, wich look good and have low wtr

How many mapping projects did you start?
many but i continued on 5 (and skycastle but i cant really count that) nok1, nok2, nok3, warehouse and my sp-map

How many maps have you finished? How many have you uploaded on quadropolis (links) ?
i just finished the alpha version of nok2 (pickups arent playtested at all, wayboints are missing, a lot of bugs, lighterrors) and warehouse is nearly done too. i also made a small, detailed (overdetailed in my opinion) map called nok_skycastle to show some of my detailing skills, but i usally try to make maps with low wtr

What is your favourite kind of map ?
a /newmap, because i can build there =)


Do you want to add something else ?
i like colourful textures  ;D

1.warehouse ~ a mid-size dm map made by me and stormer
2. nok2 ~ a mid-size ctf map, also playable in capture; its still just an alpha version and playerstarts are only set for ctf mode(!)
3. nok_skycastle ~ an artistical map to show some of my detailing skills

if that isnt enough, i would show you the layouts from nok1 and nok3 too :)
