Maps / Station-42 [WIP]
« on: June 17, 2018, 06:00:37 pm »
What is Station-42?

Station-42 is a map that tests if mapmodels are a viable option for use as Primary Details.  Normally, you're highly limited on capabilities with cubes as main details..  With mapmodels, you're able to achieve detail that would otherwise be impossible, allowing for maps with more character and beauty.

WORK IN PROGRESS ~~~ When finished, map will be posted to http://tesseract.gg > forum > mapping

I'm uploading all progress to my YT chan into this playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLA4gPJ2KgPyOfPw2Ucy2k4E3owyspAB1G

So far, using mapmodels as primary details, seems viable, if not better than traditional ways.

Here's some pics:

Yeah, the map is shit, but it's just proof of concept right now

Powermapper is a giant /pastebrush library and a GUI with consolidated commands, preset atmospheres, tons of other shit.
The ultimate editing tool.

"Oh.. but.. won't maps just start looking the same?"
Sort of, but that's why ya keep adding more and more pastebrushes! and more and more and more!

The goal? Any day-1 Sauer noob will be able to make a release-quality map, within 1 hour.  Heck probably even 30 minutes.

Anyone, who has never touched a computer in their life, can make a release quality map, poof just like that.

That 10 minute video is the equivalent of 3-5 hour of hand editing from nothing.

No more building, no more learning curve, no more 'sucking' at mapping.

Everyone is gonna be a pro map maker from the first minute.

---

As the project progresses, other mappers may decide to make their own themed pastebrush packs and post them somewhere.
Any rando can download them and get to mapping.

Putting the 'coop' back into coop edit.

Whole new wave of sauer maps is on it's way.. if I can do this thing right, that is.
--

Oh? you wanna contribute? well, why aren't you making your own pastebrush pack? Throw it my way and it'll get added into the mega pastebrush library!

Heck, don't even gotta throw it my way, you can just post it on Sauerworld, Quadro, on thsi forum, if I find it i'll probably contact you and ask if I can use your pastebrushes, lmao.

Got a specific style you use for futuristic theme? Medieval theme? make your pastebrush pack and share it!

Sauer is not dead yet!  Oh boy,, it's about to shine that's right.. heh

Making 2-3 maps in 1 day? Oh, that's going to be the new Meta.  Especially when you can make a map in under 1 hour.

I'll be doing an SP Campaign for Sauer.

Here is where Volume 1 will be.

http://sauerworld.org/forum/index.php?topic=528

Volume 1 is just regular dungeon, haven't decided what to do with Volume 2 yet.  Probably jungle or egypt theme dungeon.

The gameplay is based off of Dungeoneering in runescape I.E. explore rooms find keys go to next room kill stuff etc.

Have fun  :chainsaw:

Youtube Video of Phase1 to Phase5
(THERE WERE NO WAYPOINTS WHEN I MADE THE VIDEO)
(the electric fire balls on P2 were removed, because they were stupid)
(for phase 5 meteors, the bot suppose to have Minigun, but i gave him rifle, for testing purposes. he has Minigun now.)
(the sound is out of sync, also, but oh well.)

HellFire - The First Ever Sauerbraten Boss Fight - by Ardelico

Tired of boring old bots? How about a bot with more health, infinite ammo, and throws meteors at you?
While jumping back and forth to avoid the fire?

TL;DR HellFire is a 10 phase boss fight for Cube 2 Sauer, featuring fire walls, meteors, burning floor, and a stupid annoying bot with infinite ammo and a lot of health. Can you beat the challenge?

////// Info About Boss Phases, and How to Beat Them //////

Phase 1: just dps til hes dead
Phase 2: he'll tele side to side, dps til hes dead
Phase 3: just dps til hes dead
Phase 4: jump over the fire wall, don't jump to other islands, his rifle is accurate so try to jump a lot and stay moving
Phase 5: he'll tele side to side, dodge meteors and dps til hes dead (NEVER ENDING MINIGUN), you want to constantly be running around, and collecting all the health spawns. Don't try to tank the minigun, it won't work.  Focus on running and collecting the health, rifle/minigun the boss in between.
Phase 6: just dps til hes dead - dodge his rockets
Phase 7: fire wall (ACCURATE RIFLE), same as p4, his rifle is just more accurate.
Phase 8: burning islands (NEVER ENDING MINIGUN) - you want to jump from middle island, to outer island, to middle island, as the fire spawns.
Phase 9: just dps til hes dead - dodge his rockets

Phase 10: burning islands + meteors (NEVER ENDING MINIGUN) - Ok so, you're gonna have to stay moving. Same as p5, run around and collect health. But now you have the fire floor from p8 to worry about.

So, your strategy for P10 is this: Minigun/rifle dps, hop from middle island to outer island, collect health/ammo, jump back to middle island, repeat.
He has 950 health on P10, don't even try to out-dps him rofl.  You want to nip a piece at a time.

///// Boss Health According to Phase /////
P1: 200
P2: 200 - 300
P3: 300 - 400
P4: Like 450 ish
P5: Like 500 or 600 (you're pretty much fucked if you missed the P4 YA/HB spawn.)
P6: same as p5
P7: same as p4
P8: same as p5
P9: same as p6
P10:
950 (lol, good luck, for real)

Mapping Hell Clan / Re: [Members List] Mapping Hell Clan Roster
« on: July 11, 2017, 08:51:40 pm »
Updated.

If you are marked as inactive, you will be regarded as inactive until you post a map, script, etc, something related to Cube 2 Sauer, Tesseract, or Red Eclipse.

You have 1 year (until July 11, 2018) else you will have re-apply to the clan.  (does not apply to permanent members, such as vampi, jake, sparky, unixfreak, etc.)

EDIT: <Doko2>isn't 1 year too much time for the inactive people?
Yes, it is far too much time.  I personally believe it should be 2 months at most.

However, MH is old clan, we are the OG's of sauer.  If someone is a member of MH, they earned that membership, and deserve an overly fair chance at keeping such membership.  This even applies to that 1 particular member that I don't quite so much like, however MH is MH, and they get a fair chance too. (you know who you are.)

This Mapping Tutorial is rated: INTERMEDIATE

This Mapping tutorial will teach you how to make Islands, along with how to use the Blend Paint feature in the Sauerbraten Editor.

// Originally posted on SauerWorld: http://sauerworld.org/forum/index.php?topic=320.0

Here is a video of the finished Island: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Und1GBkQO6o

I recommend viewing the 2-4-6-8 Law Tutorial before attempting Islands.
The tutorial for 2-4-6-8 law can be found here:  http://mappinghell.net/forum/index.php/topic,1070.0.html

*****

1: Start by making the island frame.

2: Go ahead and fill in the sides first.

3: Bump the last row up a little.

4: Smooth it out.

5: Go ahead and do that to all the sides.

6: Hit the corners, start from the top.

7: Layer 1 finished.

8: Layer 2 finished.

9: All layers finished.

10: General island shape complete.

11: Go ahead and go smooth out the island sides.

12: Start sand texturing, this is your island's beach.

13: Continue..

14: Sand texturing done.

15: Select sand texture and press f9. (make sure allfaces is OFF)

16: Sand texture was 959, so find the grass texture, and /vlayer 959, then /replace.

17: Now do /blendpaintmode 2, and select your blend brush.

18: Go ahead and blendpaint around the beach.  First blend layer finished.  Looks good.

19: Use a partially solid brush for the second layer, this adds a faded effect.

20: Poof, the smoke spot appeared.

21: Add some vegetation.

22: Start forming the shoreline.

23: Progress.

24: Start smoothing out the shore.

25: Push twice.

26: Flip.

27: Push 4 times.

28: Flip back.

29: Focus generally on the sand/default texture line.  This is your water line, you want it smooth for natural appearance. Plus, it makes smoothing the shore later much easier.

30: Smoothing done.

31: Shoreline finished.

32: Ermagher, it's the water, RUN!

33: Add some waterfog, and watercolour.

34: Add some fogdome, fog, match the fog colour to skybox, poof, island finished! :D
