Title: Kony 2012
Post by: Yoddle on March 07, 2012, 09:17:38 PM
I know This is a mapping forum, but the word must be spread.

Joseph Kony for the past 26 years has been abducting children in Uganda, and turning them into sex-slaves or Soldiers. He must be brought down. Bellow are several links, the most important is the video, its 30 minutes long, but trust me it is worth watching instead of 30 minutes of editing. You need to do so little for something that is so big. The video is moving, and has had an impact on myself and a majority of the world. The aim is for the entire world to show the government that this foul creature known as Kony, must be brought down this year.

On the 20th of April, Cities around the world will have a peaceful protest. Facebook or twitter have details for the cities you all live in. This event is aimed to make Kony Infamous, and should tell the Government to bring Kony down.

I as much as InvisibleChildren would appreciate your support. Bring Justice to the World

Please Give 30 Minutes Of Your Time To Watch The Video Bellow.

Okay, I have seen over 10 posts on facebook about this cause. I think we don't need a petition to get this guy, as we can do nothing about his actions. Only the military can. These are getting on my nerves. I ask for vampis permission to delete this.

It could help, I don't see the harm in trying. It's better then a totally pesamistic view. If you watched the video, you'd know, that it already helped to a degree. A mapping clan forum may be an innapropriate place, but the petitions as a whole are a good thing.

The military wont do anything unless the government approve. we need to tell the government its what we want again. This time its the whole world demanding that he should be brought down, and if the whole world demands it, then the government will act. All we do is join or pledge, and go to the 'Cover the Night' event in whichever city your in, on the 20th of April. That is pretty much the least you can do, so do it! make history! :)

I'm known to be rather political when it comes to these kinds of things and i could argue until the sun goes down about what is obvious in this case. Here's what i think:

Check this image out, whether it's true or not, it is something to consider about the Kony situation and it fits well to what i suspected when i heard about this story: http://i.imgur.com/K3mgn.jpg
Don't go so quickly to believe everything you see and/or hear.

Uganda has been on the US hit list for almost a decade. (by hitlist i refer to Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Libya, Sudan, Syria and Iran). It's on the same list of countries that the US doesn't like and/or wants to replace their leaders for US backed dictatorships which benefit the US economy and allows them to establish a base there, so that pressure can be further applied to other nations in that region. We all know what happened to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya.

Typically, china had been investing manufacturing resources and jobflow throughout Libya just prior to the invasion/overthrow of gaddafi. Coincidently US urges sanctions to be placed in against the colonel and his country, resulting in a no-fly zone and an assassination, all of a sudden the US has installed a political party (the NTC) which swings in favour of US interests.

As with syria, the US doesn't like it that Assad's regime is an allie to Iran (the US is currently chanting war rhetoric against Iran on a claim which has no-basis over than to invade and otherthrow the current regime), so they are sending and training guerilla's (under the guise of al qaeda) to start a false sense of revolution, as an attempt to bring down assad. This is effectively what happened in Libya.

Now you can only use that tactic several times without it becoming obvious, so now as china is still investing in african economies (such as uganda) the US won't get away with inserting al qaeda as a bunch of revolutionary's trying to overthrow the government there. So here comes the good old "sex crime" or "paedo accusation". Just as the trumped up charges on Julian assange and the wikileaks case. The "sex crime" charge is a political chip to wage war on an individual by lowering the public's opinion of them.

At face value, this is what the whole thing looks like to me. I could be entirely wrong. But in this day and age where many of the world's western governments have an agenda to overthrow regimes they don't like, its worth looking into the facts and the history as to why someone might want to sway public opinion against a certain individual or leadership.

Think outside of the box :tailspointing:

If there was something I could do to actually *help*, I would, but sending money to some organization that nobody's ever heard of isn't my cup of tea.

If the military wanted to get involved... well... they have drones for a reason. You'd have to find the bastard all the same before you could draw an X over his picture. However, at the very deepest roots of nearly every dispute is greed, and by exploiting one's greed you can generally find that of which you seek. There's a hitch of course. The country that would likely take action would be the US of A, but we run into the issue of Corporatocracy. If they cannot bring in a profit they will more than likely stay out of it.

In such a scenario as this, I see little profit. You drop into a developing country against troops consisting mainly of untrained armed men and children. Depending on the morals of the individual soldiers, the fight would not last long in a relative sense and is therefor unappealing to the greedy little government.

War is a profiteer's dream.

And the truth starts to come out.... i was partly right in some ways!

https://rt.com/news/koni-viral-video-campaign-133/

I didn't realise how over-hyped / exaggerated that video was until i watched it all.
Looks like a charity scam, supposedly 68% of donations go towards the film makers salaries. There is still the question of their agenda... Kony hasn't even been sighted in uganda since around 2006 apparently. Just seems suspicious that Uganda announces they have found oil deposits, US Gov sends 100 troops to "find kony" a year later, not long after that; this video/film comes out touting a load of over-the-top claims about the attrocities of kony and that we all need to "save uganda".

Even worse, the filmmakers are found posing with Sudan's LRA militants (same group who Kony leads) in this photo:
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_-PnDZmngAhM/Sa_KBGNySiI/AAAAAAAAAJY/uBOfiAysghs/s1600-h/IMG_2941.JPG

Sure, Kony and the LRA have done bad things and it's been going on for years. This "documentary" is a bit late and isn't very factual, it also doesn't help that the filmmakers are POSING with rockets/arms with the LRA themselves!

Conspiracy theorists = 1, Gullable public = 0
:P
