Resources / V6 Sauerbraten mod

I spent a long time working on this about six months ago, and so I'm finally posting it here.

This requires you to paste the files here on top of an older Sauerbraten install. It might be wise to make a copy of your sauerbraten folder, just in case. The file that needs to be changed and not copied in is Config.cfg, where you add in the contents of ConfigAdd into your normal Config.cfg (which is why you should make a backup copy.)


Otherwise it's very easy to operate. Right click flips gravity, and middle click jumps.



It's styled after a game called VVVVVV. You can play a demo off of google if you search, it's awesome. :O



You can walk on the floor.



Or the ceiling! Though I don't have the physics right, it works mostly. @_@

Anyway, tell me if you have any issues running it. I don't know of any big problems yet.

A tiny bit of revising, and several new physics-manipulating variables for fun for anyone who knows how to make proper script. Most importantly, I set up gravity changes to affect players on the same server (provided they're on a server that likes it, I included a bat file for this)

This is the start of a slightly more serious mod I want to undertake. Specifically, I want to make the physics of Sauerbraten -scriptable-. And this is the first attempt. \o/

In this mod, wireframe is allowed in any mode, simply enough. But in particular, I have added a new variable named "gravityframe" that directly controls gravity in-game. To use it, you can either use script or commands like /gravityframe 0  (the default is 200). I included a script for the Mouse3 key in the readme file for the mod.

Also randomly, the goto command works in this .exe file without checking for edit mode or spectator mode as well, and can be used in normal play modes. However, it doesn't calculate the distance from the destination player, so you'll be teleported into their spot directly.

Just made an enormous circuitboard pattern for the pac-man chamber, now I get about 50 fps >.>

I think that means this map is almost finished building, now I just need to fix the smaller details (like weapons) and it'll be a playable map \o/



This circuitry -moves- in a way difficult to explain.

I've smoothed the landscape heightmap a fair bit (and tried not to outright flatten it in the process xD)

Also, added several new textures, finally reached page four! \o/

This is going to be an absurdly long CFG x_x

I'm uploading this map so Oldgit can catch it, but it's up for anyone else who wants to play with the template.

If anyone has any ideas of black and white patterns that would make cool patterns when in motion (and that do make looping patterns), please do tell!



I realize this doesn't look impressive, but it MOVES and flows! And stuff.

I like the idea, but it sounds to me like it's going to be a sort of lego-animation skit. xD

I can send you the source code, but if you can compile code for it on your mac, you could probably just as easily make the mod yourself.


It only changes things like gravity, and weapon physics. Nothing significant besides that and a few server messages.

Effectively infinite amounts of each weapon (presently), but with the ability to shoot extremely quickly. No gravity, and a chainsaw that pulls you through the air.

Personally, I think the stargate effect was -awesome-, now if you could make the starting portal horizontal to make use of horizontal water movement...

It's essentially a map made only of black and white textures, and checkers.


...It has a skybox, glowing textures, moving textures, lots of dizzying things.

I have a preference for painfully bright and vivid colors, and if you were around when Cube 1 was dying, you probably already know me for perpetually being in edit mode while in FFA in multiplayer. :P

Works for me. I think we should try to catch people and point them to this page so they see to change to the new tag (if they want), so they won't be confused if they see other people in the clan wearing it.

Actually, this is just a person setting a map name on a server to something with several spaces, or those "enter" codes that make the text go down a line.

I think Vampi reported it, but that won't stop people from messing with it in the meantime. @_&

For the time being, just ignore it if you see it.

With horrid honesty, if it's more unique than DOBK, you shouldn't have -any- problems.

Nor is it any great problem if people fail to recoginize you, if you've a bad reputation for some reason or another.

Just pick a random sequence of letters, or something.

Just try not to forget, though this is a clan, we don't own Sauerbraten. :P

The only "power" we might have is concerning who says what, on which server. And that comes down to who owns the server, which almost anyone with decent internet (even dial-up) can host.

And we need to discuss what'll happen if it does, so we need some ideas, too. And Xyena, adminly people can't do -everything-. If you've ever had master status on a server with eight noobs, you'd know that you can't do much when people complain unless you saw it yourself. :P
