Made the map slightly larger and extended the sides. Still need to fix lighting on the palm tree's and then build another section on the default grid texture.

Map and screenshots attached.

QuoteIf you had the money and wanted to mess with future generations, what would you do?

Lol, something similar to your idea except i would do it on the moon.

I would build a massive shrine on the moon depicting human dna and the creation of humans. It would have a whole load of statues of alien greys like this.

Oh and while i'm up there i'd hollow out the moon and fill it with chocolate. What a surprise when people start mining on the moon one day.  ;D

vampi is right

the readme for the sounds folder says

The "free" ones are sounds taken off the web, from sites
that guarantee these are free to use & original sounds.

and jumppad sound is at:
free/boing_x.wav

were you planning on suing them for using sauer's sound effects  :D ?

Love the helix's.

I can't check them on sauer right now, but was wondering, are they flat on the insides?

Eg:
https://jimsbikeblog.files.wordpress.com/2010/10/diavolo-loop-the-loop.jpg

Would it be possible to get that nice curve using your helix methods?

Yes that is the same mod.
AND DID YOU NOTICE THE MAP? :)
Its Scorch, but adopted to SauerBomber by Nothing.

I couldn't help but notice xD
To be totally honest i had forgotten about it for a while,  In it's current state it's a bit of a mess in terms of layout. Maybe i should finish it. lol.

#263
Lol nice. Does it work in multiplayer?

We could make some bomberman-style maps and find a better mapmodel for the doors. Looks fun.

I seen something similar before, made by the nooblounge guys... not sure if its the same mod, although it's hosted here:

News & Discussions / Compaq Presario CQ5210
December 31, 2011, 07:11:01 PM
Ok, this is my setup (compaq/oem deal) from 2009. It's pretty crappy, for gaming (integrated graphics lol), though it can play alot of games with a steady framerate on standard to low-detail settings. As long as i'm running a 64bit OS on this computer, i can get 70-100fps in sauerbraten on most maps, when there are about 15 players, and low detail settings.

Motherboard:
Pegatron NARRA5

CPU:
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ (

  • Cache size: 512kb
  • Cpu cores: 2
  • Cpu speed: 1000MHz - 2.8GHz
  • Bogomips: 2009.72

Graphics:
nVidia GeForce 6150SE nForce 430

  • Graphics clock: 425MHz
  • Memory Clock: 800MHz
  • Memory: 512 MB
  • Memory Interface 32-bit
  • Bus Type: integrated
  • Outputs: VGA

Sound:
nVidia MCP61 High Definition Audio

RAM:
3GB (2887mb) DDR2

Disk:
Hitachi 320GB 7200rpm internal
LACiE 500GB 5400rpm external

Monitor:
Compaq Q2159 LCD (1920x1080)

Operating System(s):
  • ArchLinux x86_64 (LXDE desktop)
  • Slackware64 (-current) (KDE Desktop)
  • FreeBSD 8.2 amd64 (Fluxbox + ROX desktop)

Thinking of getting something newer soon; have been looking at the AMD bulldozer (4 or 6 core) and either the nvidia gt520, or the nvidia gt440.

December 28, 2011, 03:34:45 AM
Awesome.
Glad to see you figured it out.

When i started to try and figure a way to do this i was using
universaldelta -1

To simply scroll the active cube, although came into problems when trying to "build" as i thought using the opposite of above to scroll down would work.

Next we need someone to make a GUI with the cube selection menu :D
It would be easy as cake to add the number of cubes you have "digged" into an inventory.

I suggest using mapmodels instead of cubes for gratings. mapmodels are grate.

Mapmodels? Surely the lighting would not be very grate.

What is the other grating/mesh/fence method you are on about Apollo? I can't think of another way to do it... lol. At least not without adding lots of tiny cubes.

Heres what i think of facebook!

<rant>
I spent a very long time filtering out that damned website from every page i visit. Call me crazy but i can't stand it. I even run a filter on my network to detect/block facebook content that isn't on a facebook domain, gets rid of most of the "like buttons" on news websites for example, blocks all of the stuff that a hosts file can't. The day i find a cure for permanent facebook removal i will be the happiest person in the solar system... i guess that will not be until the day i die.

Also, i just heard "like us on facebook" from the damned television during an ad break 3 times in a row while writing that paragraph ::sadface:: Man, people even laugh at me when i'm around cause they know i hate facebook to death and a facebook logo happens to be on a packet of crisps i would be eating at the time or a cereal box or something. I swear facebook is some kind of virus/malware, like wtf it spreads and invades eveyr possible thing in existenence!!!! go away rofl.
</rant>

Lol.

Ah ignore half of the last post i made... it seems i'm being an idiot. I ran '/clearlightmaps' and its back to ~80k for now  :P.
I've attached it below. You will need to run calclight after loading the map.

Maps / Re: scorch
December 10, 2011, 08:01:14 AM
Started adding lights to the second version.. when doing that i realised lightmaps increase filesize by *alot*...
3.9M   base/scorch.ogz
2.4M   base/scorch0.ogz

Anyway, attached is a screeny of some small detail i added to one of the rooms:. The texture on the rubble will probably be changed to something more blended (not a brick pattern, for example). Still trying to keep things simple, as i don't want things to lag when you look at them  ;D

Not gunna keep uploading the map until theres alot of changes or its nearly finished as i don't want to waste bandwidth, thought it would be around 500k at most before i realised the lightmaps lol.

At the moment, i'm in the process of destroying parts of the map in a way that each room can easily be remembered (hole in wall, hole in roof, etc).

Maps / scorch
December 07, 2011, 02:08:38 AM
Here's a map i've updated (in fact restarted from scratch, copying over the geometry and rebuilding).
I had posted it on quad for feedback a while ago: http://quadropolis.us/node/3188

This is the general feel/theme to the map (the finished version will look similar):

It isn't finished, but i've changed quite a bit of the layout to add more flow/character to the map. Attached is the new map layout, and this time it has a config. The newer version is very small (~70/80kb) in filesize compared to the one i posted on quadropolis (~1.5mb), even though the second version has more geometry and is larger.

I haven't got round to re-adding lights/pickups/waypoints yet as i'm still working on the geometry parts (but check the screenshot for an idea). If anyone can compare the two maps and post what they think works best, or any other ideas that would be awesome. I will try to update this thread when i make any changes.
